Well, I believe that a typical suit of Obsidian Armor costs around a million gold right now (not sure, but it's and educated guess). To get that much, you will need to farm, then farm, then farm, then turn into a farming zombie, then farm, then get carpal tunnel syndrome, then farm...

But hey, you have a monk already, so make him a 55er and have a blast. See you next year.

I got my first set after 5th month of playing, then the second after the 6th month of playing. Once you know what's the best way for you to get gold, you'll get it fast enough.

And I can't really help you saying like "Start running for gold", "Start power trading", "Start farming". You need to find a way to get gold but still have fun, and being decently quick, if you find that way, you'll get there sooner or later.

It's all being dedicated, and saving your money.

If you don't want to try to earn over 1 million gold for the materials and crafting cost, then take your monk, join some pugs for FOW/Uw, slowly earn ecto at a rate of 4-5 a day or so, repeat for a month.

Or you could get a monk, spend the cash to turn him into 55, and get an ss necro partner.

Problem is, we don't have favor all the time, so you can't just farm all the time.

It's faster to wait til the next big money maker hits. I made my Fissure in one day farming when the IDS came out. A lot of people made good money on the totem axes. People just pay ridiculous prices for new stuff, if you are lucky to be on when it first gets released, you get your fissure.

My only word of advice, don't pay any mind to Riceboi's eBay joke, that will get you banned and then you'll never get your FoW :0

Crafting FoW armour is a hobby of mine Just got my assassin's yesterday!

I farm as opposed to power-trading because its more reliable and lets face it, its fun. Get yourself some 55hp monk gear, go to the Underworld and farm your a** off and you'll not regret it. Vellum is easy to craft: Save the Demonic Remains and Phantom residues and salvage them for dust and salvage anything wooden for wood (Trolls drop lots of raven staves which are my primary source of wood). Find an artisan (www.guildwiki.org) and craft your 350 vellum for 20g per piece.

Ectos don't drop that often so you have to be persistent and determined and you'll need an SS/SV nec so your chances of getting them are halved. Don't let that put you off though as its rewarding psychologically as well as the obvious emprical reward: shiny armour.

If you want to know more call my hotline (or PM me in-game) and I'll help you through it.

here's a tip for buying FoW armor: if you can't afford it, don't.

I can't offer better advice than what the others have said: find a way to generate money that allows you to keep having fun. I remember making a pile of money farming greens in Sorrow's Furnace and not really noticing the money pile up in my storage box as I got the items and sold them over just a couple of days. When I saw that I had 100k at my disposal, I went and bought a set of 15k armor for my warrior.

Power trading is perhaps the "best" way to make money, but IMO spamming WTB/WTS with all the other fortune-seekers in Lion's Arch isn't very exciting.

Actually I know a lot of ppl that have fow armor and never even farmed. It's not that required. All you have to do is resell golds. ( make quick cash^^)

Possible, but reselling golds is just as time consuming as farming, more boring, and will still turn you into a zombie/give you CTS. Hell, I think a case could be make for "LA dist.1 farming".

Which pretty much sums up the whole dilemma of Fissure armor. You have 3 choices, and all of them suck:

1. eBAY - extremely lame, plus illegal according to the TOS so you might lose your account if you do this and even if not, who could look himself in the mirror after paying real money for virtual gold.

2. Farming - extremely boring and time consuming.

3. Hardcore trade spamming - also extremely boring and time consuming, not to mention migraine-inducing.

So as it stands there is no "exciting, fun" way to get Fissure armor.

Really the devs should implement what was suggested ages ago: you can get Fissure armor by beating all of Fissure of Woe, and all of Underworld.

That would be fun, and in keeping with the Skill>Time theme.

Maybe if more people complain about how much all the ways to get Fissure armor suck, the devs might actually do something like that.

Here's an idea: have the Eternal Forgemaster give you an option of three different quests to perform, then you get the armor for free. The quests would still bear certain similarities to the methods used now.

Quest 1
A Chinese farm botting 55er will appear and flip a coin. Heads, you pay Arena.Net $50 get the armor. Tails, you get your account banned immediately.

Quest 2
Go outside of the forge, where some... um... Chaos Griffons will appear. Kill 1,000,000,000 of them as they spawn in infinite waves.

Quest 3
The "Eternal" denizens of the Forge will all have different gold Fellblades to sell. They will spam their wares in the local chat (NEVER in the trade chat) at a mindnumbing pace for a minute, then you must take a multiple choice quiz about the properties of each item. Achieve a certain grade to get your armor.

You will most probably have to farm, or invest the cash you currently have in runes/rare mats that you think will go up in value.
If i were you id sell that vertebreaker and ironclaw, a decent set of threads feels much better than a sword you will never look at.

I know exactly what you mean, i think eBay is part of the lions arch wammo mentality, its the same with IWAY warriors also, none of the other professions seem to have as many reatards walking around in FoW.
